Glad everyone could make it tonight. I think it is going to be a great study.
Below are the ?'s from the workbook (for those that don't have one) for this week.
1. Spend some time this week reading through portions of the Gospels (Matt, Mark, Luke, or John). As you read, keep the following question in mind; how is Jesus modeling true spirituality: (If you are not sure where to read, start with Mark, chapters 1-9).
2. In your book read the first section, "How to Give God What He Wants the Most," before your next group meeting. (NEXT WED @ 7pm.) **remember you can download the audio portions of the book @ LOTE.org/r12 book resources.
3. This series could shape your life in significant ways. Will you commit to participating in this group for all six sessions?
Video Facts. 1. I think I'm a Christian, but I have my doubts. Can I really know for sure?
2. If true spirituality isn't about rules or religious activity, why do so many Christians and churches make those the acid test for being a "good Christian"?
3. What is the role of the Holy Spirit in true spirituality?
1. Sometime during this week, write out a prayer of surrender. Set aside enough time to carefully consider your prayer. If you need some help getting started, consider sincerely praying this prayer of surrender below:
Dear Jesus, I want to thank you for loving me and dying for me. You know all of my faults and flaws and yet you still want a relationship with me. I am so grateful that you have saved me and forever changed me. I owe you everything.
So, today I want to declare my total commitment to you and tell you that "I'm ALL In". I don't want to hold anything back...I belong to you. All that I have and all that I am I surrender to you as the leader of my life.
Today and from this day forward I want you to be Lord over my career, over my family, over my money, over my relationships, over my time, and over my future.
I konw that you are a good and loving Father and that you know what is best for me. So I submit your purposes even when I don't understand or when I can't see what you are doing. I choose YOUR way because I believe YOUR way is best.
2. Share your prayer with a trusted friend.
3. God is not a cruel taskmaster. He is a loving father who knows that surrender is the pathway to great blessing. Memorize and meditate on Psalm 84:11 (NIV) this week:
4. This week, pray for the others in your group by name. Pray that they would have the courage to fully surrender to God.
5. In your Living on the Edge book, read the second section, "How to Get God's Best for Your Life," before the next group meeting.
